Ajanović before the Court: He doesn't have BiH documents, offers US and Croatian papers as a guarantee he won't flee

(Patria) - A hearing to determine pre-trial detention for the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Muhamed Ajanović, and the Chief Education Inspector in Sarajevo Canton, Dalila Hakalović, for whom restrictive measures have been requested, is being held at the Municipal Court in Sarajevo.

The arrested Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Muhamed Ajanović, declared himself Croatian at the hearing to determine pre-trial detention, stating that he does not have BiH documents, and offered documents from the USA and Croatia as proof that he will not flee.

'Muhamed Ajanović sent his photos with Đorđe Ždrale to people who bothered him, the prosecutor said at the hearing to determine pre-trial detention for the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry,' Istraga reports.

It was also heard at the hearing that the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Muhamed Ajanović, exerted pressure on certain individuals and witnesses through Hilmija Garibović and Denis Stojnić.

As one of the pieces of evidence that the suspects committed criminal offenses within their authority, the prosecutor also offered communication between Dženita Viteškić and Muhamed Ajanović, where Viteškić says: 'When you need something, we can communicate through Dalila'.

Muhamed Ajanović's defense attorney, Alen Nakić, stated at the hearing that the arrest of the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry could be related to Ajanović's testimony in the civil proceedings initiated by Sebija Izetbegović's lawsuit against the University of Sarajevo.

Nakić claims that during the civil proceedings, Ajanović stated that the former rector Rifat Škrijelj formed the Commission for the Revocation of Academic Titles of Sebija Izetbegović in a catering facility and that Škrijelj gave instructions to the Commission on how to revoke Sebija Izetbegović's titles. Muhamed Ajanović headed this commission and testified in favor of Sebija Izetbegović in the civil proceedings.

The acting prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office proposed to the Municipal Court in Sarajevo to order one-month pre-trial detention for the suspect Muhamed Ajanović.

Pre-trial detention was proposed due to the risk of flight, the risk that the suspect might influence witnesses and accomplices while at liberty, conceal evidence, obstruct criminal proceedings, and re-offend.

Restrictive measures have been proposed for the suspect Dalila Hakalović. These include a ban on performing the function of Chief Education Inspector, a ban on entering KUIP, a ban on leaving her residence, and a ban on meeting and communicating with witnesses and suspects.
