Zvizdić claims: Positive economic trends in BiH continue

The Council of Ministers of BiH expresses satisfaction that the positive trends of recovery and growth of the BiH economy, recorded in 2015 and 2016, have continued in the first seven months of 2017, Patria reports.

In the said period, exports were achieved, as stated by the Council of Ministers, in the amount of six billion and 181 million KM, which is 16.9 percent more than in the same period of 2016.

Exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 980 million KM, which is 32.9 percent more than in the same period of 2016, with import coverage by exports standing at 77.8 percent.

Exports to the European Union market amounted to four billion and 470 million KM, which is 14.4 percent more than in the same period last year, with import coverage by exports with EU countries standing at 72.1 percent.

Total import coverage by exports stood at 61 percent, representing an increase of 2.7 percent compared to 2016.

The trend of industrial production growth compared to the previous year also continued, and the increase in production volume was accompanied by an increase in the number of employees in the real sector.

Likewise, in the first seven months of 2017, the trend of tourism growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina continued, which also spurred a significant increase in tourism revenue.

- At the same time, significant progress was made in the implementation of activities on the path to EU integration, with a special focus on the process of preparing the response to the EC Questionnaire, which, after months of obstructions, is now at an optimal pace of implementation, bearing in mind the progress made in terms of creating credible assumptions for activating the MAP for BiH, especially after the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH regarding the location „Veliki Žep“ on the territory of the RS entity.

Sincere commitment to further implementation of economic reforms and continuity of the process of European and NATO integration remains at the top of the priorities of the work of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
