Zvizdić: Only DKPT can be the contact point with EUROPOL

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić told reporters today that he does not believe the agreement with EUROPOL will be terminated, despite warnings from the EU Delegation and missions of EU member state embassies. If that were to happen, Bosnia and Herzegovina would be the first country with which this significant cooperation has been terminated.

- The opposition of the RS Ministry of Interior was the main reason this issue has been postponed since March, although it was clearly established that the contact point should be there (DKPT, editor's note) where conditions exist, where there is good practice, professionals, and where it is only logical for that point to be, and that is the DKPT of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and by no means any cantonal or entity Ministry of Interior. We will insist on this; this issue has not yet been before the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but be assured that besides this logical setting, no other will be accepted at the Council of Ministers, nor will any other lower level except that state agency be the contact point for either Interpol or Europol - said Zvizdić during his visit to the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies. 

Zvizdić said he does not expect the agreement to be terminated, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina has so far been a good partner to both Interpol and Europol.

- In the last three years, we have been a very good partner in matters of fighting terrorism and security issues. In the last three years, no citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina has gone to foreign battlefields, our agencies are doing their job well, and we exchange information very well with both Interpol and Europol, and we are equally important to each other. We will react very quickly and designate the contact point - said Zvizdić.
