Zvizdić gets green light: Osimica director of OSA, Buha deputy, Bevanda chief inspector

With 10 votes in favor, one against and one abstention, the proposal of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, that the first man of OSA be Osman Mehmedagić Osimica, his deputy Trifko Buha, while the chief inspector will be Damir Bevanda, reports a reporter from the Patria news agency. According to our information, Damir Bećirović (DF) was against, while Mirsad Mešić (SDP) abstained during the vote.  

-We finished the agenda item regarding the appointment of the top officials of OSA in the commission. The Council of Ministers received a positive opinion, and already on Thursday at the session of the Council of Ministers, these candidates will be confirmed. By the way, this was the third final step in the appointment of the top officials of OSA, Zvizdić told reporters. 

The Chairman of the Commission, Nikola Špirić, said after the end of the session that the task of this working body was exclusively to verify the legality of the election itself, because the Commission does not propose candidate names.  

-It was determined that the legal conditions were met. It is very important, given the great challenges facing all police structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, that the appointment of the director, deputy and chief inspector of OSA be confirmed as soon as possible.

When asked by a Patria journalist whether any member of the Commission mentioned the letter sent by the CIA director, in which he openly opposed the appointment of Mehmedagić, Špirić replied that no one mentioned that letter and that he personally had not seen it.

-Even in explaining the names of the candidates, Zvizdić did not mention any letter. I hope and believe that the parliamentary majority took everything into account when appointing these people, said Špirić.

He further said that immediately after the confirmation of the OSA officials, this commission will hold a meeting with them to see their plans and everything that will be ahead of the OSA officials in these difficult times, in order to adequately serve the citizens of this country.
