Zvizdić: Unconstitutional blockade of the BiH PA halted projects worth 500 million euros

SARAJevo, (Patria) – Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić addressed a press conference after the session of the Council of Ministers of BiH. He denied that the Council of Ministers of BiH is in a blockade, stating that at today's session, the text of the letter regarding the Thermal Block 7 of the Power Plant in Tuzla was unanimously adopted and that the letter will be sent to the appropriate addresses.  

Also, at the session, agreements on an investment grant worth 19 million euros between BiH and the European Investment Bank for the Zenica North - Žepče South section were adopted. An agreement on the construction of the Plava Voda regional water supply system, which will include Travnik, Busovača, and Novi Travnik, was adopted. 

Zvizdić pointed out that 45 agreements are in some phase of approval, worth 500 million euros, with the largest part relating to infrastructure construction.

“The inaction and unconstitutional blockade of the BiH PA have a negative impact on all citizens, blocking more than a billion euros in funds awaiting final implementation, which would improve the economic situation in BiH, lead to an improvement in living standards, and environmental protection,” said Zvizdić.

He stated that instead of working and resolving such issues, “we have artificial crises and the escalation of further tensions.” Zvizdić noted that BiH's public debt as of June 30 amounted to 11 billion and 157 million KM, of which the external debt is 8.2 billion KM, and that the intention is to reduce BiH's debt, but that we are still the least indebted among the countries in the region.  

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH also commented on the meeting between Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and representatives of political parties from RS, which will be held on Saturday. 

“I support any regional cooperation aimed at the process of reconciliation. Unlike some other officials, I prefer cooperation between sovereign states, such as BiH and Serbia in this case, rather than between peoples. I do not think anyone should interfere in the internal affairs of BiH. If this meeting takes place on Saturday, I expect messages from Vučić that will lead to further stabilization of relations between BiH, Serbia, and the entire region. I expect messages of respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH based on mutual respect. Peace, stability, further democratization of the region, and Euro-Atlantic integration that can bring peace and stability,” said Zvizdić.
