Official from the Government of HNC: 13 people lost their lives in Jablanica and Konjic, at least six people are still missing

(Patria) - A press conference was held at the seat of the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, where official information was presented on the consequences of the devastating floods in that canton, primarily in the municipality of Jablanica.

Head of the Government's Public Relations Department, Darko Juka, stated that it can now be officially confirmed that 13 people have died in the flooded areas of that canton. Of these, 12 have been identified, while one person in Jablanica is listed as unidentified and is presumed to be someone not from this area.

The number of 16 fatalities, which was also mentioned by the HNC Government yesterday, is not accurate at this moment.

- It has been determined that three bodies were reported twice by different services - said Juka.

Officially, one person died in Buturović Polje, Konjic municipality, while 12 died in Jablanica, predominantly in the area of Donja Jablanica.

In Konjic, four missing persons are being searched for, and in Jablanica, at least six are being searched for.

- With the assumption of the location where six buried bodies are currently being searched for, mud is being cleared, and deposits of rocks and stones are being removed. We do not want to release data prematurely. Officially, they are listed as missing.

I am pleased to report that the mother who, unfortunately, lost her unborn baby yesterday is now stable, but still not out of life-threatening danger. She is being treated at the Safet Mujić hospital in Mostar, as is the little boy who was rescued by an EUFOR helicopter and who is in a completely stable condition and out of life-threatening danger - Juka stated, among other things.

All those who needed accommodation, as Juka explained, have been taken care of, with most of them staying in the family homes of their relatives in Jablanica. For those who had nowhere to go, accommodation has been provided in a reception center in a sports hall.

Juka added that no additional rainfall or landslides were recorded during the night.
