Official: No New 2013 Census Results Before General Elections

By the end of this year or the beginning of next year, a publication will be released with the total population, age and sex structure of the population, down to the settlement level, said Mirsada Adembegović from the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

She confirmed that activities on the entry and processing of data from the 2013 Census of Population, Households and Dwellings in BiH are proceeding according to the established dynamics and plan adopted by the Central Census Bureau.

- Work is underway on manual preparation and entry of census material by census circles.  

After the data entry process, statistical data cleaning follows, which involves one of the phases/methods of processing data collected during the research. Regarding the census, this means that first all census material is scanned in its original form, as it came from the field. After that, it goes through the OCR system for data processing (optical recognition of census form content) and is stored in the database. Once the data is entered into the database, the data control process begins (logical and contingency controls), which reveals duplicates, ambiguities, and inconsistencies in responses. Statistical cleaning of census data collected in the field is done with the aim of obtaining real, relevant, and internationally comparable and recognized data on census units – stated Adembegović.

According to the Law on the 2013 Census of Population, Households and Dwellings in BiH, census results will be published successively until July 1, 2016.

We remind you that preliminary census data were published on November 5, 2013. According to that publication, 3,791,662 persons were enumerated, including 2,371,603 in the Federation of BiH, 1,326,991 in the Republika Srpska, and 93,028 in the Brčko District, writes Patria.
