Official: BiH has not met the conditions and is heading for the "black list"

Moneyval's warning about Bosnia and Herzegovina remains in effect, after the BiH House of Peoples today failed to adopt both necessary laws, Jaime Rodriguez from the press service of the Council of Europe confirmed today for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

According to him, they received information today that all necessary conditions, namely the adoption of the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and amendments to the Criminal Code, have not been met, and therefore the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Measures continues with the procedure.

On June 1st of this year, they sent a warning to member states that BiH does not meet international standards and that they should take special precautionary measures in all transactions with our country. The warning was sent to more than 30 countries.

However, at BiH's request, Moneyval postponed further notification procedures to the global body "Financial Action Task Force" – FATF and all other countries until today, hoping that the conditions would be met.

However, Rodriguez told Patria that it is evident that the conditions have not been met and that there is no longer any reason for any delays.

- We will inform our member states and partners, and we are obliged to do so. We will do the same in correspondence with FATF. The warning remains in effect until Moneyval's conditions are met – Rodriguez stated.

If FATF decides to inform its member states about this case, it will mean that BiH will be placed on the list of countries that do not respect international standards, i.e., on the "black list", which includes countries like Iran or North Korea, NAP reports.
