Župča - 20th Memorial Tournament: A day to remember the bravest sons

This year, the traditional Memorial Football Tournament will be held in Župča again, this time the twentieth in a row, under the name "To the martyrs and fallen soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina", writes the Patria news agency.

The tournament is played on July 28 and 29, and the participants are: the new Premier League side Mladost from Doboj, the First League side Rudar from Kakanj who are defending the title won last year, and two Second League sides, Ilijaš and the tournament host Mladost from Župča.

This is a tournament with tradition, reputation, respect... and over the past nineteen years, numerous clubs have taken part, including: Sarajevo, Čelik, Željezničar, Velež, the Amateur National Team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosna (Visoko), Goražde.

The tournament is dedicated to the bravest sons and daughters of our country, who gave their lives for our present-day freedom. The tournament was once played under the patronage of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Župča was awarded the hosting rights because during the war, 11 players from the first team of Mladost gave their lives. At the time the hosting rights were awarded, FK Sarajevo was the main competitor to Mladost.
