At the session of the Independent Police Board of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the dismissal of Goran Zubac from the position of director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency will be requested, because the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against him, the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) learns.
As a source from the Independent Board confirmed to us, the session is scheduled for Wednesday, and the situation after the indictment will be discussed. However, as we were told, the deputy director of SIPA, Đuro Knežević, already has a legal basis to suspend Zubac until the criminal investigation is completed.
- Zubac is a police officer like any other. There are many examples when police officers were urgently suspended, and there is no reason why Knežević should not make such a decision today – said the source of Patria from the Independent Board.
The Independent Board can also do the same, but it can also dismiss Zubac due to the serious charges brought against him. However, the current balance of power in this body suggests that such a decision will be difficult to make, but such a request will certainly be presented. Zubac has previously been subject to criminal checks in war crimes cases, but the indictment for negligent work in service is the first to be processed.
