Genocide Victims Meet with Minister Bunoza: Dissatisfaction with BiH Judiciary, Need for More Effective Prosecution of War Crimes and Their Denial

(Patria) - The Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Davor Bunoza, today received representatives of the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Association of the Movement of Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa.

The discussion focused on the prosecution of war crimes, the prosecution of denial of war crimes, hate speech, and the insult of victims, with a special emphasis on the application of Article 145.a of the Criminal Code of BiH.



Representatives of the associations expressed their dissatisfaction with the work of judicial bodies and their results to date in these proceedings, pointing to the need for a more effective and consistent response from judicial bodies.

The Minister of Justice of BiH expressed understanding for the concerns and criticisms raised, emphasizing that these processes are of exceptional importance for our society in terms of justice, reconciliation, and truth.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Justice of BiH, within its competences, is actively working on strengthening the legal framework, which includes greater accountability of judicial officials, with the aim of strengthening the rule of law and public trust in the judicial system.



It was announced that in the coming period, discussions will be held with the highest judicial officials to analyze and define difficulties and improve the efficiency of proceedings on these matters.

The Ministry of Justice of BiH remains open to continuing dialogue and cooperation with representatives of civil society on issues of particular social importance, including the protection of human rights, the preservation of memory, and overall reconciliation, it was announced from that institution.
