Air in all parts of KS extremely polluted, avoid spending time outdoors

(Patria) - The air in all parts of Sarajevo Canton has been assessed as very polluted or extremely polluted (average PM2.5 and PM10 particle values in the last 24 hours).

The current synoptic forecast, according to reports from the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, indicates stable weather with fog, very light winds, and temperature inversions in the morning and evening hours, which will continue to have an unfavorable impact on air quality in the coming days.

Exposure to high concentrations of pollutants can cause respiratory problems in all population groups, and can seriously worsen the health condition of sensitive populations and untreated chronic patients.

Recommendations for all population groups are to avoid movement and spending time in the urban zone, and to suspend strenuous activities and recreational activities.

If you plan to spend time outdoors, it is recommended to wear specialized face masks with FFP2, FFP3 protective respiratory filters (American designation N95 and N99).

Masks are intended for short-term wear only and do not provide complete protection from polluted air. Spending time in the natural environment of the surrounding mountains is also recommended.

The constant recommendation to citizens is to follow official information about measured pollutant concentrations in the air and weather forecasts through the media, announced the Institute of Public Health of KS.
