Air in Sarajevo Canton is polluted today, temporary improvement in the afternoon

(Patria) - Due to air pollution, intervention measures from the Warning episode are still in force in Sarajevo Canton.

Concentrations of polluting PM10 particles, today and in previous days, at all measuring points in the Canton are above the limit values for declaring the Warning of 90 micrograms of particles per cubic meter of air.

In the afternoon today, an improvement in air quality is expected, due to increased north wind, which will lead to partial cleaning of the basin parts of Sarajevo Canton.

However, the predicted inversion in the evening hours, as well as during the following days, with weak wind, will favor the re-accumulation of pollutants in the air, as well as daily fluctuations in PM10 concentrations in the basin parts, with maximum values during the afternoon and evening hours.

Based on this weather forecast and air quality status, the Expert Body for Coordination and Monitoring of the Implementation of Intervention Measures in KS has recommended maintaining the Warning episode from the Plan of Intervention Measures.

Air quality, as well as meteorological conditions, are continuously monitored and analyzed, and citizens will be informed of any changes.
