Air finally clean, but "Warning" episode remains in effect

(Patria) - The air in Sarajevo Canton is clean, but due to prevention, the "Warning" episode remains in effect, announced the Press Service of Sarajevo Canton.

"From the morning hours of 05.01.2020, there has been a decrease in the concentration of pollutants in the air in the Sarajevo Canton area. A further decrease occurred during today, so this morning until 10 AM, the following average daily values were measured: Vijećnica 12.61, Otoka 17, and Ilijaš 44.83 μg/m3", the statement said.

However, according to the weather forecast of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, stabilization of weather is expected in the coming days, with no wind or precipitation, and the possibility of temperature inversion, which could last for a longer period, negatively affecting air quality.

"For this reason, it was decided to maintain the 'Warning' episode, as it is not possible to estimate the extent to which such weather conditions will affect the accumulation of pollutants in the air", the KS Government announced.

The expert body will continue to continuously monitor the values of pollutants in the air and, together with the Government of Sarajevo Canton, will inform citizens about any potential changes.
