Zovko boasts they had finished projects, yet four months have passed since May!

Mato Zovko (HDZ BiH), the mayor of Žepče municipality, further upset the residents of Željezno Polje with his statements to the media, as they have been protesting in front of the Žepče municipal building for days, writes the news agency Patria.

Namely, Zovko told journalists yesterday that the “projects for reconstruction after the May floods had already been submitted, but then new floods hit, so everything will have to be done again.” This statement further alarmed the residents of Željezno Polje, who now fear that the reconstruction projects will not be completed even by winter.

- Well, he says the projects were finished, but four months have passed since the floods in May. Finished projects, yet the remediation should have already started. What are we supposed to do now, wait until December for them to draft the projects again – one resident of Željezno Polje told us.

People in this area say they are living in impossible conditions caused by the floods. So far, it has been agreed to intensify activities related to housing for the affected population and the preparation of projects for the repair of road infrastructure in this area. Additionally, it was agreed to provide alternative accommodation for families who lost their property, but the residents will not believe it until it is implemented.

- They have said all this before, and then Zovko told us they had finished the projects, and now they will write them again or something. We are at the end of our strength – added the resident of Željezno Polje.

Incidentally, about two thousand landslides have been registered in the ZDK area. The residents' fear that autumn will bring new problems is justified. Experts are also warning about this.
