Zoran Zaev signs resignation

(Patra) - Prime Minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev signed his resignation this morning, as announced, North Macedonian media report. His resignation should be accepted at the Assembly session.

"I expect the procedure to start during the day and for a technical government to be elected," said Zaev.

He emphasized that he expects the entire process to go smoothly, reminding that the system for electing a government in a technical mandate was simplified back in 2016.

After Zaev's resignation is accepted, the President of the Assembly will inform the President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski, who should then assign the function of Prime Minister in a technical mandate to Oliver Spasovski, the current Minister of Interior, who was proposed by SDSM and supported by the opposition VMRO-DPMNE.

Let us recall that after the European Union's decision to postpone the start of accession negotiations with North Macedonia, political leaders in that country agreed to hold early parliamentary elections.
