ZOI '84: Six-seater chairlift on Bjelašnica worth 16 million KM not in operation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The report on the operations of ZOI'84 for 2016 did not receive support from representatives in the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton at the end of January this year, while the report for 2017 was not even considered. Although the then Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Elmedin Konaković, sought the dismissal of director Midhat Hubijar, this did not happen. Instead, Konaković was dismissed.

In his explanation to the representatives, Konaković stated that 2016 was a bad year, and 2017 was the worst in terms of ZOI'84's operations. He noted that the Sarajevo Canton government allocated funds for paying debts, salaries, as well as the procurement of a four-seater chairlift, a six-seater chairlift, and an artificial snowmaking system on Bjelašnica.

Only for the six-seater chairlift project, 16 million KM was allocated, and in December 2017, it was officially put into operation. Although it was supposed to bring multiple benefits to Bjelašnica, as well as to the company ZOI'84 itself, both in winter and summer, this did not happen. On the official website of ZOI'84, it is stated that since June 5, the six-seater chairlift on Bjelašnica is not working. The Austrian company that previously serviced the six-seater chairlift on Bjelašnica reportedly abandoned the job.

At the beginning of June, despite poor business results at ZOI'84, the Sarajevo Canton government appointed Hubijar as president of the commission in the Tourist Association of Sarajevo Canton after the dismissal of the previous president of the Tourist Association, Nermin Muzur, who was appointed during the mandate of Elmedin Konaković. Along with Hubijar, Alen Divović, owner of a private tourist agency, and Elvir Resić, former director of TVSA, who resigned from that position at the beginning of April, were also appointed to the Tourist Association.
