Do you know how to list all nine rivers that Sanski Most lies on?

(Patria) - Sanski Most is a small town in the northwest of our country, located between the Grmeč, Mulež and Behremaginica mountains.

As many as nine rivers flow through it - besides the Sana, there are also the rivers Sanica, Bliha, Dabar, Japra, Zdena, Majdanska rijeka, Sasinka and Kozica, as well as several shorter underground rivers, writes Punkufer.hr.

Sanski Most, which was also called the City of Flowers in the former Yugoslavia due to its beautiful and well-maintained green areas, is still proud of its bridge, its mosque with four minarets, and its "little Venice", which this part of the city resembles with its canals.

The city on the water got its name from its largest river, the Sana, and its name comes from the Latin Aqua sanus, which means healthy water.

This region is indeed rich in sources of medicinal water, and all those who passed through here throughout history used its benefits in baths - Greeks, Romans, Turks.

The Sanski region was inhabited long before them; remains from prehistory have been found in the vicinity.

It is assumed that the Illyrian tribe of Mezeji lived here, in a settlement named Mren, which was a port in the 9th century, and on the banks of the Sana, historians claim, there was also an Illyrian mining center.

The oldest written mention of this area is found in the charter of the Hungarian-Croatian King Bela IV from 1244.

The center of spa tourism today is in Sanska Ilidža, which, in addition to radioactive water and miraculous mud, offers its visitors unforgettable hospitality.

The surroundings of Sanski Most are an untouched natural temple with incredible karst monuments and only occasional human traces, such as the remains of the 14th-century Gradina Kamengrad, located on a 500-meter high cliff above the place named after it.

In the Sanski region, there are several karst springs of rivers - Saničko vrelo, Dabarsko vrelo and vrelo Zdene, caves and waterfalls worth visiting and admiring.

Hrustovačka pećina is known for its magnificent speleothem, and Dabar cave, which is entered right next to the spring of the river of the same name, is still quite unexplored, although at the very entrance, it enchants visitors with its underground lake.

The impressive waterfall of the Bliha river, between the villages of Gornji Kamengrad and Fajtovci, about 15 kilometers from Sanski Most, cascades down a 56-meter high cliff with an impressive sight and deafening noise.

The springs and rivers of the Sanski region live on in its stories and legends, and among the most beautiful is the saddest one - about two sisters, Bliha and Zdena.

Although the details sometimes differ, with the plague appearing in some versions and treasure in others, the tragic end is the same in all of them.

To avoid a marriage arranged against their will, the two beautiful sisters threw themselves from the mountain, and two mountain tears formed at the spot where they fell. Bliha and Zdena flowed from them.
