Air quality significantly improved in Sarajevo Canton

(Patria) - At the proposal of the Expert Body, the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton has lifted the "Warning" episode, as well as all prohibition and restriction measures from the Intervention Measures Plan that were applied in the previous days.

Thanks to more favorable meteorological conditions, during the morning hours, there was a significant improvement in air quality throughout Sarajevo Canton.

The lifting of the inversion layer, strengthening of vertical currents, and atmospheric pressure that is 5 hPa higher than usual, led to a reduction in the concentrations of polluting PM10 substances.

Similar conditions in the coming days will cause greater purification of the basins in the morning and during the day, although a weak temperature inversion will persist.

As a result, as well as more intensive burning of solid fuels in households, a partial accumulation of harmful pollutants is expected during the afternoon and evening, which will be temporary.

The Expert Body will continue to continuously monitor air quality and will promptly inform the Ministry of any potential changes, so that necessary measures can be taken in a timely manner if needed.
