Abuse of genocide to hide corruption, victims in BiH must stop applauding executioners

The authorities in Serbia are deaf to criticism for glorifying war criminals and denying genocide. This was proven by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, after a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. To the clear message that there is no place in the EU for denying genocide and glorifying war criminals, Brnabić stated that she does not see Serbia in that and does not consider that message to be directed at this country.

Perhaps Brnabić meant that she does not see Serbia in the EU, but that is not a smart thing to say. Thus, despite the declaration adopted in the Serbian Parliament on Srebrenica, the denial of genocide remains the state's strategy led by Vučić's progressives. What a wise person keeps silent about, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandar Vulin, says, who characterized the imposition of the law on the prohibition of denying genocide and glorifying war criminals and crimes in BiH as an introduction to the annulment of Republika Srpska and an attack on the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. By portraying themselves as victims, they humiliate the victims of genocide and their families, but also satanize their own people by maliciously imputing collective guilt as a paradigm of the "genocidal Serbian people".

Just as genocide was a tool of the Serbian authorities in the nineties to subjugate BiH, so today the denial of the prohibition of denying genocide and all crimes is used as justification for a new attempt to break up the state. The President of SNSD, Milorad Dodik, is at the forefront of this, who seems to have learned to profit only from genocide. First, as the first among Serbs, he publicly acknowledged it and, with the help of the West, came to power in Republika Srpska, which he is now trying to save by denying it, more strongly and decisively than those who committed it. 

Although there is no place in the EU for denying genocide and glorifying war criminals, there is for those who support deniers, like Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. His stance that BiH cannot be stabilized without restoring the rights that belong to Serbs implies that they also have the right to deny genocide, which is an objective threat that it could happen again. Orbán is against European sanctions on Dodik, who conditions the return of Serbs to state institutions on the annulment of the imposed law on the prohibition of denying genocide, but does not give up his separatist policy. His closest associates cannot yet break free from that dangerous narrative, which is clear from the message of the head of the club of Serb delegates in the House of Peoples of BiH, Sredoje Nović, that Inzko's law will be a stumbling block in BiH not only until the next elections.

SNSD thus sends a message that it is not ready for the EU. The problem is that the "bearers of European values" are also not ready, whose delegates in the House of Peoples voted to repeal Inzko's law. Let's be objective, the European commitment of their partners in power, who are full of fighting against genocide denial, is also questionable. Therefore, those who believe that the imposed Inzko's law is not to blame for the crisis in BiH should be taken seriously. It is only a means to keep BiH away from the EU, where there is no place for those who deny corruption through which economic genocide has been committed. Thus, the victims must again applaud their executioners. Otherwise, we are in for a dark future.
