Criminal at large, mothers still searching for their sons: Ljubomir Borovčanin arrived home in Bijeljina

War criminal Ljubomir Borovčanin arrived home in Velika Obarska near Bijeljina, after serving two-thirds of the sentence imposed by the Hague Tribunal, which sentenced him to 17 years in prison for war crimes in Srebrenica, reports the news agency Patria. 

He had been in custody in Scheveningen since the spring of 2005, when he voluntarily surrendered. The Hague Tribunal convicted him in June 2010, and in November 2011 he was transferred to Denmark to serve his sentence.

Borovčanin was deputy commander of the Special Police Brigade of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison for aiding the murders, extermination and persecution of Bosniaks from Srebrenica committed in July 1995. This verdict became final after Borovčanin did not appeal.
