Orasje Crime: Mato Baotić Before the Court of BiH Today

Mato Baotić, known as "Čikin", will plead guilty or not guilty before the Court of BiH today for the crime committed against civilians and prisoners of war in Orasje, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Baotić is suspected of having acted contrary to the rules of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War as a member of the Military Police within the Croatian Defence Council from May to November 1992 in the municipality of Orasje.

The suspect is under investigation on suspicion of raping two women during the war.

Baotić is suspected of having, during May 1992, together with another person, taken a woman to a house in the municipality of Orasje, where both of them raped her after psychological and physical abuse.

The suspect is also accused of having, in the premises of a primary school used as a prison for civilians of Serb nationality, while serving as the commander of the Second Department of the Military Police, using free access to prisoners, together with another person, raped a civilian, thereby committing the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population, writes NAP.
