Gold Around Their Necks: Denmark are World Champions!

(Patria) - The Danish handball team is the new world champion after defeating Norway 22:31 in the final in their home city of Herning.

The Norwegians were only equal in this match at the beginning, when they had a minimal lead on three occasions. The Danes, led by the brilliant Hansen, won their first gold medal at the World Championship. They came closest in 1967 and 2011 in Sweden, and in 2013 in Spain, when they were runners-up.

For the Norwegian national team, this will be the second consecutive World Championship they finish in second place. Two years ago, they were defeated by France, whom Denmark crushed in the semi-finals this time.

Hansen led the Danes with seven goals, while Olsen added five. Jondal played an excellent game for Norway, scoring nine goals. By winning the gold medal, Denmark has directly qualified for the Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo in 2020.

Earlier, the match for third place was played, and the French celebrated, defeating Germany.
