Golden Mind from Tuzla: Muhamed Numanović Among the World's 120 Best Physicists

(Patria) - At this year's International Physics Olympiad, held in Paris, Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved significant success thanks to the excellent results of its students.

Among 406 competitors from 92 countries, Muhamed Numanović, a student at Richmond Park International High School from Tuzla, won a bronze medal, once again confirming his status as the most successful young physicist in the history of our country.

Commendations were also awarded to Nedim Begović, Filip Krištić, and Lejla Baturić, with the entire BiH team leaving a strong impression on the world stage.

Muhamed has already won three medals at the European and three medals at the International Physics Olympiad, and his name will be included in the historical register of the 120 most successful students in the 55-year history of this prestigious competition.

In a comment for BHT, he emphasized that he owes great gratitude to his school, which provided him with additional time and support for preparation. As he himself says, the school recognizes potential and creates a space where students can focus all their energy on knowledge and results.

His professor, Dina Mehanović Hurtić, highlights that BiH has a large number of talented young people, but their success depends on whether society gives them enough space, support, and opportunities to grow. "Young people like Muhamed, as well as many others we have educated in recent years, show that we have a bright future if we know how to keep and value them," the teacher points out.

Despite the open opportunities to continue his education at numerous prestigious world universities, Numanović decided to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He enrolled in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Tuzla, with the desire to also study physics as an external student. When asked why he didn't go abroad, he answers honestly – he is more motivated by the idea of building and sharing his knowledge here, among the people and institutions that already support him and where he sees an opportunity to help others himself.

His decision is admirable, but it also raises an important question – how to create conditions so that exceptional young people like him are not exceptions who leave, but the core of the country's future scientific and social renewal. Richmond Park School emphasizes that the results of their students are the fruit of many years of joint work by professors, mentors, and families, and the numerous awards they have won throughout the year show that dedication to knowledge and education pays off.

The example of Muhamed Numanović is not just a story about a medal, but about a young man who, instead of leaving in search of a better life, decides to stay and build a community with his knowledge. In a time when emigration is dominant, he chooses to stay. And that is his greatest victory, reports BHRT.
