Life returns to Željezo Polje: Heavy machinery connects interrupted road

Heavy machinery has been working for weeks to establish road communication in Željezo Polje, which has been hit by devastating floods and landslides multiple times this year, and these works will continue in the coming days, reports the reporter of the BH News Agency (NAP).

From May to August this year, Željezo Polje in central Bosnia was hit by strong floods and landslides as many as three times, causing multi-million damage to hundreds of houses and other facilities in this place. The road communication was interrupted to such an extent that some hamlets of Željezo Polje could only be reached by helicopter, and many hamlets are still difficult to access today.

Residents explain that from spring to today, they were more in isolation than the roads in this place were passable.

- But that did not shake our hope and faith in a better tomorrow in the least - say these brave people.

- We will build our Željezo Polje much more beautifully and much better than it was - they say full of optimism. 

The construction of temporary road communication for most hamlets of this place is nearing completion, after which the construction of proper road infrastructure should begin, and the repair of residential buildings is also awaited, writes NAP.
