Life of mother of two endangered: Blood urgently needed for Zenica Cantonal Hospital

Red Cross Novo Sarajevo calls on all Sarajevo citizens to join the humanitarian blood donation campaign for a 48-year-old mother of two, reports the Patria News Agency.

-Safa Muharemović urgently needs a large dose of blood of all blood types except "B" at the Transfusion Department of the Cantonal Hospital in Zenica. Safa Muharemović suddenly fell ill and needs a large dose of blood of all types except blood type "B" every day, and therefore all Zenica residents who are able are asked to visit the Transfusion Department at the Cantonal Hospital Zenica, while on January 25th, transportation to Zenica from Sarajevo will be organized.

Any healthy adult person between the ages of 18 and 65 can be a blood donor, provided that a medical examination and hemoglobin level check determines that donating blood will not endanger them or the person who would receive the blood.

Individuals cannot donate blood if they have had surgery/operation in the past 6 months, or if they have had a tattoo or piercing in the same period. Pregnant and breastfeeding women also cannot donate, as well as individuals with chronic illnesses.

Let's not forget that one dose can save up to 3 human lives, due to the three blood products found in blood.
