Živanović for NAP: Relations in BiH will not improve until current politicians leave the stage of life

The political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the most difficult since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement in 1995. Some analysts do not rule out the possibility of new conflicts. Some of them believe that it will not come to that. Domestic authorities are raising tensions solely to divert citizens' attention from the difficult economic situation. War rhetoric will be particularly intensified in the coming days, as the official election campaign for the Local Elections to be held on October 2 will begin in BiH on September 2, writes the Patria News Agency.

The situation in BiH has certainly been most fueled by the referendum in RS, announced for September 25. Despite the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH that January 9 is unconstitutional as the Day of RS, neither the authorities nor the opposition want to implement the decision. They announced that citizens will decide on this issue in a referendum. Although holding a referendum in this way would be unconstitutional.

The Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council in BiH (PIC) called on the authorities from RS a few days ago to abandon the referendum (the opinion of the Russian ambassador was isolated), but this has not changed the opinion in RS, at least not until today.

The situation in the country has further escalated after announcements that the referendum on January 9 is just a trial referendum. It will not take long for one on the secession of RS from Bosnia and Herzegovina if this one is held.

Respected Banja Luka philosopher and political analyst Miodrag Živanović warns in an interview with the Patria News Agency that the situation in BiH will not calm down until the politicians who led the war in the country leave the political stage.

- They simply do not want to do anything positive in BiH. Until they leave the political scene, and I will be morbid and say until they leave the stage of life, we have no chance for the future – believes Professor Živanović.

Speaking about the referendum, he says it is meaningless, not because the competencies are disputed, but because there are many more important things in BiH.

- This referendum is proof that the authorities are just fooling ordinary citizens – says Professor Živanović, adding that the international community also bears responsibility for this situation, because it did not intervene to calm the political bickering in BiH.

- In their bad habit, the international community does not intervene, does not do its job, but takes such a stance that no one understands them – believes Živanović, writes Patria.
