Živanović: Politicians serve us a life from 100 years ago, Dodik takes us even further back

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Miodrag Živanović, a professor from Banja Luka, explained how he sees the current situation in which foreign leaders speak groundlessly about BiH's population, while domestic authorities "violently, through populism, return them to the distant past". As he says, what we see are not politicians, but hucksters: "People who deal only with calculations, a good part of them also belong to criminals. Hence their views of BiH. If one were to rhetorically analyze the statements of Orban and Milanović - they are beyond any valid political, but also human etiquette", Živanović states.

Speaking about Viktor Orban, he also commented on the financial aid of 100 million euros that Hungary will send to the RS.

“To publicly say that Hungary will give money to the RS as a gift goes beyond all normal frameworks. Dodik boasts as if we will again get something from someone. I think that should stop, especially in a time when people live on soup kitchens. No one even knows how pensioners really survive – that is a wizard's mission", says the retired professor from the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka.

Asked what the population can do to oppose such rhetoric, Živanović has instructions for, as he says, the primitive authorities.

“It would be useful to try to give our top authorities, who are elementarily uneducated and primitive, a small, short recipe on how to appear publicly and how to treat subjects. That way, as BiH, we would signal that we have done something to change and that we are beginning to resemble the world, and not something that has nothing to do with life – it only has to do with our death", he says.

He returns again to the “advertisement” that BiH receives in the world due to statements like those of Orban and Milanović, but in doing so, Živanović also addresses the internal structure.

“You can imagine what the image of our country is abroad when one part of the population is classified as ‘others’ – that doesn't exist in any normal country in the world – that the authorities declare a part of their subjects as others", states the N1 interviewee.

The degrading attitude towards BiH's population today is characteristic of long-gone times, Professor Živanović is emphatic.

“If I were younger, I would leave here immediately, headlong! Many people have left because of a situation that can quite simply be called humiliation. Humiliation is the average state of consciousness of the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Besides humiliation, the average state of consciousness can also be described as despair. I do not believe that in a short time we can bring people closer to life and life closer to people – and if we don't do that, there will be no people here. There will only be professional Bosniaks, professional Croats, professional Serbs", Živanović is categorical.

He placed BiH society, due to the ruling regime, in the previous millennium.

“We as a society have been returned to the distant past. In my estimation, BiH society lives in the time between 1930 and 1950 of the previous millennium. That was when tribal systems were most pronounced. We were violently moved into that time by the action of populism", comments Živojinović on the N1 program.

He also comments on Dodik's request for the transfer of competencies from the state to the entity level.

“That is just another sign or confirmation that the transfer of competencies as envisioned in the RS could take us back another 30 to 40 years, maybe we would even arrive somewhere in the eighth century of the previous millennium", is the comment of the retired professor from the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka, Miodrag Živanović.

We should work on returning us to our modernity, he stated.
