Winter Service 'Rad' on the ground from early morning hours, 36 vehicles clearing roads

(Patria) - The winter service of the Cantonal Public Utility Company (KJKP) "Rad" has been on the ground since the early morning hours due to snowfall in Sarajevo.

Priority is given to first and second-class roads to ensure passage for public transport and emergency services.

KJKP "Rad" spokesperson Mirza Ramić says that 36 vehicles are currently engaged on the ground.

- The winter maintenance teams started snow plowing and salting operations around 9 PM last night.

Currently, 36 vehicles are engaged, and we are repairing those that are out of order so they can get back on the ground as soon as possible - Ramić points out.

He states that mechanical maintenance covers four city municipalities - Stari Grad, Centar, Novo Sarajevo, and Novi Grad, while manual cleaning of sidewalks, bridges, and stairs is organized in the areas of Stari Grad, Centar, and Novo Sarajevo, with activities in Novi Grad entrusted to another company.

- Due to heavy snowfall, the teams have already re-salted cleared sections four to five times. When conditions permit, we will also start clearing third and fourth priority roads, which are cleared within 24, 48, or 72 hours after the precipitation stops - Ramić explained.

KJKP "Rad" announces that they are also prepared for the announced low temperatures in the evening and night hours, when roads will be preventively salted to prevent the formation of ice.
