WINTER SHOWS ITS TEETH: Traffic Completely Obstructed on Six Road Sections

(Patria) - Heavy snowfall in the past two days has hit Bosnia and Herzegovina, causing major problems, especially for traffic across BiH.

According to BIHAMK, a bus and a truck have been removed on the Ripač-Vrtoče main road (Dubovsko-Lipa section) and work is currently underway to clear the road to enable traffic for passenger vehicles at least.

Traffic is currently obstructed on the Bosanski Petrovac-Ključ section due to a jackknifed truck.

Due to large amounts of snow, traffic is suspended for all vehicle categories on the following roads:

- Glamoč-Mlinište,
- Bosansko Grahovo-Drvar-Bosanski Petrovac,
- Drvar-Glamoč,
- Kupres-Blagaj
- Kotor Varoš-Teslić (Borja) and
- Banja Luka-Kneževo.

Traffic is suspended for trucks on the Tomislavgrad-Posušje road.

On the "9. januar" highway, as well as on the main and regional roads in Republika Srpska, traffic for trucks is suspended until 10 PM tonight.

Snow is hindering traffic in most of Bosnia, while the road surface in Herzegovina is wet. We especially warn about sections over mountain passes, where there is packed snow on the road, and on these sections, the use of chains is mandatory for trucks.

Strong winds, which are creating snowdrifts, are causing additional difficulties for drivers.

Due to the weight of the snow, trees are frequently falling onto the road on numerous sections.

We advise drivers not to set off on a journey unless absolutely necessary, and if they do travel, they should not do so without appropriate winter equipment.

Due to difficult winter conditions, traffic for trucks is suspended at the Izačić border crossing. Vehicle traffic is increased at the entrances to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Velika Kladuša and Gradiška border crossings. At other border crossings, passenger vehicles do not wait longer than 30 minutes.
