Žilić for NAP: As long as we don't break free from the straitjacket imposed on us in Dayton, we will have problems with our neighbours

(Patria) - As long as we don't break free from the straitjacket imposed on Bosnia and Herzegovina in Dayton, we will have problems with our neighbours interfering in our country's internal affairs.

This was stated for the Patria News Agency (NAP) by the President of the Main Board of the Democratic Front (DF) and Member of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, Hajrudin Žilić, who says he sees no significant difference in the behaviour of Serbia and Croatia towards Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Serbia does not accept the decisions, or rather the verdicts, of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia does not accept the decisions of the majority of citizens, or rather the election results. We are experiencing a continuation of the policy and agreements from Karađorđevo from March 1991, only by other means - Žilić points out.

Unfortunately, our interlocutor adds, decision-making at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina is systematically defined in such a way that state issues are actually decided by the entities, not the state.

- The constitutional competencies of the cantons are such that each canton is practically a state in itself, let alone the entities. This weakness is, of course, exploited by the unfriendly neighbourly policies of surrounding countries.

Ultimately, our neighbours, primarily due to the foreign factor, respect the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina to some extent, but definitely not its sovereignty - states Žilić.

He also says that he has never heard any politician from our eastern neighbour mention, let alone talk about, the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Unfortunately, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as we witness daily, there are forces that do not respect territorial integrity and attack it almost daily.

Unfortunately, at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are not able to pass even a declaration or resolution condemning the verbal, and even practical, attacks on Bosnia and Herzegovina as a sovereign state - Žilić concludes in a statement for NAP.
