Zijadić: Next year, veterans of three corps will parade at Veliko Polje

The Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the Memorial Fund, Suad Zijadić, said that next year at Veliko Polje on Igman, veterans of all units of the 1st Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, veterans of the 2nd Corps, and veterans of the 3rd Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina will parade, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

This year, Zijadić told NAP, only some units of the 1st Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by the wartime corps commander Nedžad Ajnadžić, had an honorary parade and formation. And, starting next year, all units of this corps, as well as units of the 2nd and 3rd Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will be invited to the event.

Thousands of people gathered on August 1 this year at Veliko Polje on Igman to attend the event "Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Igman 2014", which has been commemorated for the 15th year.

Nedžad Ajnadžić, the wartime commander of the 1st Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, warned in an earlier statement to Patria that the difference must be known between those who defended and those who did not defend Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Serbian aggression against our country from '92 to '95, and that the event commemorated on Igman is precisely a kind of reward for the defenders of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Thousands of heroes from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina who participated in the liberation of the country from the Serbian aggressor remembered the most difficult days of their lives, as well as their comrades who died defending Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is surprising that the central event "Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Igman 2014" ended without speeches from the highest political officials of the state. Željko Komšić, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina who was also a co-sponsor of the event, paid tribute to this great battle by his presence. However, although it was previously said that the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegović, would appear at the event, and wartime general Sefer Halilović was also announced, they did not appear on Igman today.

- The fighters were addressed by Muhamed Kozadra as the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, i.e., the president of the Organizing Committee of this event. Everyone else backed out - said Zijadić for NAP.

- Izetbegović went somewhere else due to previously assumed obligations. Komšić was there, but it is not his practice to speak at such gatherings, especially now that it is an election year - claims Zijadić. He says that the decision for General Sefer Halilović to speak at Veliko Polje was never even made by the Organizing Committee, reports NAP.
