(Patria) - A peaceful gathering and subsequent march for Palestine, titled "Ceasefire is the beginning, freedom is the goal," was held in Zenica today, organized by an informal group of citizens.
The aim of the gathering is to remind of the injustice being committed daily against innocent people in Palestine, especially children. Lost lives, destroyed homes, and growing up in fear serve as a reminder that silence must never be an option.
Demands were issued from the gathering to all institutions and levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina - condemnation of genocide, crimes against humanity, and other serious human rights violations by Israel against the Palestinian people.
Visitors also had the opportunity to sign the petition "Bosnia and Herzegovina for a Free Palestine."
- We want to send a message from Zenica, from small Zenica and small Bosnia and Herzegovina, that we too stand with Palestine. We have felt the pain of war, the pain of killing the innocent, innocent children, women, and others - said Lejla Kreševljaković, a representative of the informal group of citizens.
Lejla Džerahović, also a representative of the group, added that the demands of those gathered include condemnation of Israel and the genocide being committed in Palestine, as well as permanent aid and cooperation with Palestine and the Palestinian people.
The gathering and march in Zenica passed peacefully, and the organizers stated that they will continue similar activities to raise awareness about the suffering in Palestine and encourage international solidarity.
