Zenica, Bihać, Široki Brijeg and Tuzla are cities instead of municipalities from today

By the decision of the Parliament of FBiH, the former municipalities of Zenica, Bihać, Široki Brijeg and Tuzla have gained city status, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The Government of the Federation of BiH determined and sent to the FBiH Parliament for consideration four draft laws in December last year, by which the municipalities of Tuzla, Zenica, Bihać and Široki Brijeg are established as cities.

The House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH accepted the drafts of these laws at its session in March, and they were accepted today in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament as well.

Jasmin Duvnjak, a representative in the FBiH Parliament, explained that if the representatives of Zenica, Bihać, Široki Brijeg and Tuzla have enough wisdom and creativity, the city statuses can bring them many more international projects and foreign capital.

- There will be no changes in the administrative sense, the administration will continue to work almost as it has been working so far, but the status of a city itself can bring much more foreign investment to Zenica and other cities than could have been expected when they had the status of municipalities – Duvnjak explained to Patria.

- When you appear in international projects, you are looked at much more seriously if you have the status of a city, instead of a municipality, he added, writes Patria.
