Earthquake in Iran and Turkey, 9 dead

(Patria) – At least nine people lost their lives in a 5.7 magnitude earthquake that hit western Iran bordering Turkey on Sunday, Turkish authorities confirmed.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca reported via Twitter that 9 Turkish citizens are missing in the rubble and presumed dead, and that 37 people were injured.

He also stated that nine injured are in critical condition, but out of danger and are located in the state hospital in Baskale.

Somewhat earlier the same morning, Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced that at least 4 people and 3 children lost their lives in Van, a Turkish city near the border with Iran.

Iranian state media reported that at least 75 people were injured, and six were hospitalized, Euronews reports.
