SARAJEVO, (Patria) - EMSC reports that an earthquake was recorded in the Rijeka area around 5:30 PM.
The epicenter was 9 kilometers southeast of Rijeka, and the focus was at a depth of two kilometers.
The Seismological Service of the Republic of Croatia published slightly more detailed data and stated that seismographs recorded a weak earthquake at 5:33 PM with an epicenter in the north of the island of Krk near Omišalj. The earthquake magnitude was 2.9 on the Richter scale, and the intensity at the epicenter was IV degrees on the EMS scale.
"At first it sounded like an increasingly loud noise, and then it shook," is one of the comments on EMSC.
"It lasted two seconds and was very noisy," wrote another witness of the earthquake.
People also reported and wrote that the earthquake sounded like a strong explosion.
"As if something had struck my house, quite unpleasant."
