Zeljković on sick leave: The state settled scores with me, I am grateful to Zvizdić!

I am on sick leave, I have not entered the Sarajevo Canton Government building since February 8, Suad Zeljković, the cantonal prime minister, told the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Zeljković himself does not know what his legal status is, whether he is the prime minister or not, considering that his name still appears on all official decisions of the KS Government, although he says he submitted an "irrevocable resignation".

The Sarajevo prime minister resigned after the unprecedented riots on February 7, when the KS Government building and the BiH Presidency were set on fire. It was adopted promptly, but nothing has changed since then.

- I am on sick leave, I have health problems. Since I submitted my resignation, I have not set foot in the Government. The state settled scores with me. That's obviously what everyone wanted – says Zeljković.

When asked who settled scores with him, Zeljković does not answer directly. He has not officially spoken with representatives of his party, although he says he has remained on very good terms with the president of the SDA Sarajevo Cantonal Board, Denis Zvizdić, who nominated him and later adopted only his resignation. 

- I have spoken with Dr. Zvizdić several times and we have a correct relationship, and I am grateful to him. Some circles have sidelined me, but I don't want to talk about it at this moment – says Zeljković.

When asked how it is that his name appears on all decisions, and he has no involvement at all, and whether he is afraid that someone will hold him accountable, Zeljković says that the government's expert services should answer that.

- Since the new government has not been appointed, this one has remained to work, and I think that is legal, but you know that when you have three lawyers, you have three different opinions. Someone has to do that job, but I can't explain this situation – he adds. Zeljković did not return to Toplane, where he was director for years, and says that when his sick leave expires, he will find a place "where he is not hated and where his references are valued."
