(Patria) - Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović submitted a “Non-paper” to members of the EU Parliament in which she accused “Bosniak-Muslims from Sarajevo of displaying Hamas and Hezbollah flags”, Istraga reports.
In the document, which is in Istraga's possession, Cvijanović justifies the adoption of laws banning the operation of state security and judicial institutions in the territory of the RS, and accuses two members of the Presidency, Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović, of inciting war.
“Recently, Serbs from the Republika Srpska (RS) were attacked in Sarajevo while coming to work. On March 1, the so-called Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Muslims-Bosniaks chanted against the RS on the streets and displayed Hamas and Hezbollah flags. This event was organized by the Antidayton group, a non-governmental organization that actively opposes the Dayton Peace Agreement, which was the cornerstone for peace and stability in BiH,” stated Željka Cvijanović in the informal document bearing the logo of the BiH Presidency, which was distributed to EU parliamentarians.
Cvijanović writes that “security threats do not reside in the Republika Srpska,” and that “the leadership of that entity is firmly committed to resolving the political crisis in BiH exclusively through peaceful means.”
“The Republika Srpska fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH within the framework of the Dayton Agreement. It has not undertaken anything contrary to the Dayton Agreement and has no plans for secession from BiH. The new laws of the Republika Srpska, which prohibit the operation of certain unconstitutional BiH institutions, are an attempt to faithfully implement the division of competencies established in the BiH Constitution, as agreed in Dayton. The Republika Srpska only wants those competencies that belong to it under the Constitution. Persistent encroachments on the constitutional rights of the Republika Srpska and its citizens, from both domestic and foreign elements, are the reason for the political instability plaguing BiH,” wrote the Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency.
She further emphasizes that “recently, two members of the BiH Presidency threatened to use the BiH Armed Forces against the Republika Srpska.”
“However, such a move without the member of the Presidency from the RS would be illegal. Bosniak-Muslim politicians have also called on the BiH Armed Forces to cross entity lines and threaten the Republika Srpska and its president. The Republika Srpska calls on Bosniak-Muslim officials to cease provocations regarding illegal military action, which only fuels political tensions and causes unnecessary fear among BiH citizens. RS leaders have remained calm in their actions and rhetoric, consistently advocating for peaceful solutions to BiH's political problems in accordance with the BiH Constitution agreed in Dayton. The Republika Srpska hopes that Bosniak-Muslim officials will avoid inflammatory rhetoric in the future,” reads the “Non-paper” that Željka Cvijanović submitted to the EU Parliament.
In conclusion, she states that the Republika Srpska “fully supports the role of the European Union force EUFOR Althea in maintaining peace in BiH.”
