Željka Cvijanović proposed to perform the duties of the President of Republika Srpska until early elections are held

(Patria) - The National Assembly of Republika Srpska will propose Željka Cvijanović to temporarily perform the duties of the President of Republika Srpska in the coming period. This will be decided by the parliament at a special session, reported RTRs.

The proposal for a decision by the parliamentary majority on the temporary performance of duties within the jurisdiction of the President of Republika Srpska states that "due to the need to act to protect the Constitution of Republika Srpska, as well as to enable the continuous functioning of the institution of the President of Republika Srpska, under conditions of unconstitutional and illegal actions by the Court of BiH and the Central Election Commission of BiH, who, with their decisions, prevent the democratically elected President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, from performing the function to which he was elected".

"The National Assembly, which exercises constituent and legislative power, which is the representative body of all citizens in Republika Srpska, and which has the obligation to use all legal instruments necessary for the functioning of the bodies of Republika Srpska within its constitutional powers, determines the need to appoint a person who will temporarily perform the duties within the jurisdiction of the President of Republika Srpska".

The temporary performance of duties within the jurisdiction of the President of Republika Srpska lasts until the National Assembly repeals this decision, and at the latest until the election and assumption of office of the President of Republika Srpska.

- This decision enters into force on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska - it is stated.

Željka Cvijanović is also a member of the Presidency of BiH, so the question is whether she is ready to leave the Presidency of BiH to lead the entity until the election of a new president of Republika Srpska.
