Željo's youth players phenomenal at the Dalmatinko Cup

Four selections of the FK Željezničar youth academy participated over the past few days in the international Dalmatinko Cup, held in the Croatian towns of Omiš and Dugi Rat. The tournament featured over 80 teams divided by age groups. Željezničar had four of its selections at the tournament: the U-12, U-11, U-10 and U-9 teams. One of the tournament organisers is former Željezničar player Predrag Šimić, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The U-12 team, led by Iso Ahmetović, won first place at the tournament. In the semi-finals they defeated Đetić 2-0, and in the final they beat Pomak 4-1. The best player and best goalkeeper were the Blues' youth players Hamza Martinović and Kerim Salihović, while the top scorer was Neriman Kočević from Academica.

The U-11 team, with coach Nermin Šehović, finished in second place. In the semi-finals they beat Hajduk 1-0, while in the final they lost to Dinamo 3-1. The best player in this tournament category was Željo's youth player Danijal Osmić. The top scorer was Andrijan Jagušić from Dinamo Zagreb, while the best goalkeeper was Borna Buljan from Hajduk.

The U-10 team is led by coach Mehmed Hamzić, and he and his youth players won first place. In the semi-final match they defeated Olimpija by a convincing 3-0, and in the final they beat Đetić 1-0. The tournament's top scorer was Harun Bakran, a Željo youth player. The best player was Bojan Prelović from Đetić, and the best goalkeeper was Mal Ćepin from Olimpija.

The U-9 team, which finished the tournament in the group stage, was also led by Mehmed Hamzić.

In addition to the sporting aspect of the tournament, the youth players from many clubs socialised, visited Hajduk's trophy rooms, and took tourist tours of this part of Croatia.
