Željezničar and Sarajevo Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Matches between Football Club Sarajevo and Football Club Željezničar traditionally represent the most attended and most interesting football matches in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mutual duels between Sarajevo and Željezničar fully bring the public's focus back to the most important side issue in the world, and the results of the matches, the players' moves, and the individuals who decided the winner are topics of conversation that are retold for generations and years.

In order to maintain the rich tradition of this great sporting event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Football Club Sarajevo, Football Club Željezničar, and the organizer of the Premier League competition, the Football Association of BiH, regarding the number of tickets for away fans in the autumn part of the 2017/18 season.

In this way, the clubs, together with the umbrella organization of BiH football, have shown readiness for an agreement and a desire to resolve the disagreements from the previous season and provide fans with appropriate conditions for following this football spectacle.

- Our desire is to create the best possible conditions for fans to watch the matches. The derby has a rich tradition, and only through joint activities can we bring back the old charm of the derby. We believe that everything will go smoothly on Saturday, and that after the match, where we hope for full stands, we will only talk about quality football. We are pleased that we have found common ground, and fans of both clubs will have an appropriate number of tickets for the matches at Koševsko and Grbavica - said Sabrina Buljubašić, General Director of FK Sarajevo.

- We are pleased that we have reached an agreement to mutual satisfaction. It is important that the Eternal Derby regains its former "shine", and that is why we have seriously approached solving all the problems. We want the fans of both clubs to enjoy the matches at Koševsko and Grbavica - said Mirsad Šiljak, Director of FK Željezničar.

The Cantonal Minister of Culture and Sports, Mr. Mirvad Kurić, also commented on the upcoming derby, which, besides the Sarajevo Film Festival, is one of the most visited events in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina this year. The Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS is a partner to both Sarajevo and Željezničar.

- The Ministry of Culture and Sports supports the efforts and endeavors of both clubs for the highest quality organization of the Sarajevo derby, which is certainly one of our most significant events. I am glad that an agreement has been reached and I believe that everything will go smoothly on Saturday - Minister Kurić conveyed on this occasion.

On behalf of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, General Secretary Jasmin Baković conveyed the importance of the city derby between Sarajevo and Željezničar for BiH football.

- The derby matches of FK Sarajevo and FK Željezničar have a special significance and value for BiH football. The tradition and reputation of two football institutions, generations of true legends, countless unforgettable matches at Koševsko and Grbavica – represent both an obligation and an inspiration to preserve the spirit and strength of the Sarajevo derby. Therefore, all fans, regardless of club affiliation, can be happy about the memorandum of understanding which, in a good-neighborly manner, defines the relationship between these clubs regarding the upcoming matches. It only remains for us to wish for a chivalrous competition between the teams on the field and the fans in the stands at all upcoming matches between Sarajevo and Željezničar - Baković stated.

The upcoming derby between FK Sarajevo and FK Željezničar will be played on Saturday, August 19, starting at 8 PM.

The organizer of the match, Football Club Sarajevo, appeals to the fans of both clubs to purchase their tickets in a timely manner and to head to the Koševsko stadium on time. The desire of all participants in the upcoming derby is for the match to proceed in a fair and sporting atmosphere, both on the field and in the stands.
