Željana Zovko is not news in Croatia, she wouldn't exist without BiH media

(Patria) - Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko organized a conference in Split titled "European Model of Federalism as a Response to Separatism and Unitarism".

At the conference, she stated that federalism, modeled after the Belgian system, is "the best middle ground for BiH to exit the political crisis", but also that it is "crucial to break the media blockade faced by Croats in BiH and to update this issue among the citizens of the Republic of Croatia".

The fact that it is precisely thanks to the media in BiH, including this text we are publishing, that news of the conference Zovko held in Split has been heard at all, testifies to the "media blockade" being discussed.

As of the publication of this text, none of the relevant media outlets in Croatia have reported on the conference, and 24 hours have already passed since its conclusion. The minor attendance in Split also speaks to the lack of interest in what Zovko has to say. Only about 20 people were present.

The news was only reported by a local Dalmatian portal, which, by all indications, was the only one covering the conference.

This speaks to the rating and "reputation" Zovko enjoys in Croatia, which in the European Parliament institution has long been sunk to low levels.

"Her rating in the European Parliament, I can't say non-existent, but insignificant. I think Željana Zovko lives off the media in BiH that report on her. And if you, as a branch, agreed not to report on her, she would politically cease to exist," said state representative Saša Magazinović recently to Vijesti.ba.
