Zelenika: If we want equality for Croats in BiH, we must ensure it for others where we are the majority

BiH, (Patria) - If we truly want equality for our own people, then we must advocate for the equality of other peoples and all citizens, said HDZ 1990 representative in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina Diana Zelenika, commenting on the fact that HDZ BiH and SNSD refused to vote for the equality of Serbs in four cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina where the Croatian population is the majority.

The House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted an initiative by Denis Bećirović, by which the House of Representatives of the PA BiH calls on the competent bodies of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Canton 10, West Herzegovina Canton and Posavina Canton to, no later than 30 days from the day of adoption of this initiative in the House of Representatives of the PA BiH, amend and supplement the constitutions of the said cantons with the aim of ensuring constitutional equality for Serbs, as well as to specify and ensure constitutional equality of the Bosnian and Serbian languages, and the Latin and Cyrillic scripts in the cantonal constitutions where this has not been done so far.

Against this initiative voted representatives of SNSD and HDZ BiH. The initiative was supported by representatives of SDA, SBB, DF, the Independent Bloc, BPS and HDZ 1990.

Zelenika wrote on her official Facebook profile that she considers the initiative itself populist, „because it is not within the jurisdiction of this house“, but nevertheless believes that those who did not vote for the initiative failed the test.

„If we truly want equality for the Croatian people in the RS and throughout BiH, "de facto" but also "de jure" we must ensure the same for others where we are the majority. That is the formula for coexistence in our shared Bosnia and Herzegovina. Therefore, yesterday I supported this initiative and through it European values“, Zelenika points out, as reported by NAP.
