Health institutions received donation from UAE, including 40 ventilators

SARAJevo, (Patria) – Part of the donation of medical and protective equipment from the United Arab Emirates has so far been received by Republika Srpska, Brčko District BiH, Posavina, Tuzla, Zenica-Doboj, Bosanskopodrinje, and Central Bosnia cantons, confirmed the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH to Patria.

“Of the part of the donation related to ventilators, 29 out of 40 units have been distributed to the aforementioned levels, while the remaining five cantons of the Federation of BiH will receive their share of the donation on September 14 or 15,” the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH responded.

The distribution ratio was proposed and confirmed in accordance with Article 2 of the Decision on the Principles of Distribution of International Aid for Protection and Rescue (“Official Gazette of BiH”, No. 24/20), in such a way that the Federation of BiH receives 61.5 percent, Republika Srpska 37.5 percent, and Brčko District one percent. 

From the UAE, 40 ventilators, 152,000 pairs of gloves, 150,000 N95 masks, 150,000 surgical masks, 150,000 disposable masks, 50,000 protective visors, 20,400 protective goggles, 25,000 protective suits, and 100,000 Covid-19 tests arrived, with a total value of 2.5 million dollars.

The donation from the UAE arrived on May 27, and due to the lack of a specification with individual prices for the donated equipment, the entire procedure was completed only at the end of August, when documentation arrived from the UAE stating that the average price of a ventilator was 42,000 dollars.
