ZDK invests in education and sports: Contracts signed for new infrastructure projects

(Patria) - The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Zenica-Doboj
Canton, Mirza Mušija, today signed contracts with the mayors of the
municipalities of Tešanj, Kakanj, Olovo, and Doboj Jug on the implementation of infrastructure projects in
the field of education and sports. The signing was also attended by the Prime Minister of ZDK
Nezir Pivić.

The contracts provide for funds for four projects - the construction of a new
school building in the settlement of Olovske Luke in the Municipality of Olovo in the amount of
350,000 KM, investment in sports infrastructure in the municipality of Doboj Jug -
78,000 KM, construction of sports grounds in the municipality of Tešanj - 228,000 KM, and
reconstruction of the bowling alley in Kakanj - 15,000 KM.

Prime Minister of ZDK Nezir Pivić emphasized the importance of joint action
by cantonal and local authorities.

– We are witnessing joint projects. We are particularly pleased with the continuation of activities in Olovo, which, although distant from larger centers, has shown exceptional infrastructure development. The construction of a new school in Olovske Luke is a priority, and we hope for its swift realization – said Pivić.

Minister Mirza Mušija emphasized that the projects are the result of a systematic approach to planning and amendments to the Program for the use of funds in accordance with the Law on Sports Collectives of Importance for ZDK.

– Given the specific needs in Tešanj and Doboj Jug, we directed funds through a special program that allows investments in sports infrastructure. In Doboj Jug, work will be done on grounds and reconstruction of existing playgrounds, while in Tešanj the focus is on the construction of sports fields with artificial turf, which will also be used for training youth selections of clubs TOŠK and Borac – said Mušija.

He added that for Olovo, the complete construction of a new school is planned, and that the reconstruction of the bowling alley in Kakanj aims to preserve a sport with a long tradition.

– These are investments that have a purpose – all in the interest of children and their future through quality sports and educational infrastructure – concluded Mušija.

The Mayor of Kakanj Municipality, Mirnes Bajtarević, expressed his gratitude to the relevant
ministry and the Government of ZDK for the investments made so far.

- We have announced a tender for the auxiliary field of the Football Club Rudar. After 30 years of talk, we are finally realizing this project. The Ministry, through the Law on Sports Collectives of Importance for the Canton, previously provided 200,000 KM, the Municipality 100,000, and tomorrow we will submit an application to the federal level for additional funds. With the money allocated for the reconstruction of the bowling alley, we will ensure that the club, which has a great tradition, can continue to play official matches in its city – stated Bajtarević.

The Mayor of Tešanj, Suad Huskić, emphasized that in addition to cantonal funds, an additional 500,000 KM will be invested from the municipal budget.

– These funds will be used to continue improving sports infrastructure, primarily through the modernization of sports fields – said Huskić.

The Mayor of Doboj Jug Municipality, Mirnes Tukić, emphasized the importance of continuous
investments in sports infrastructure.

– We are grateful to the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Ministry for understanding the needs of our community. These investments are important for young people in Doboj Jug and are a motivation for us to continue working on improving conditions for recreation and sports – said Tukić.

Đemal Memagić, the Mayor of Olovo Municipality, emphasized how much the school construction project means to the local community.

– The construction of a new school in Olovske Luke is of exceptional importance for our municipality. We thank the cantonal authorities for recognizing this priority, and I am convinced that together we will successfully realize this project in the interest of our children – said Memagić.

These projects confirm the continuous commitment of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton to investing in education and sports as the foundations of healthy community development. Through partnership with local communities, the cantonal government continues to invest in infrastructure that directly contributes to the quality of life of citizens, especially young people.
