ZDK Celebrates World Teachers' Day: Focus on Education and Better Status for Educators

(Patria) - The central event marking October 5th, World Teachers' Day, in the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) was held today at the Public Institution Cultural and Sports Center in Zavidovići.



ZDK Prime Minister Nezir Pivić congratulated Teachers' Day to all teachers, instructors, professors, and educators, expressing deep gratitude for their dedicated work, effort, and contribution to the education of future generations.

- It is my particular pleasure to be with you today on this special day - Teachers' Day, the people who guide us to the second most important home after family - school. The teaching profession is the foundation of all other professions.

It is precisely thanks to you that knowledge, values, and skills are transferred to young people, who tomorrow become drivers of societal development. That is why we in the ZDK Government are strongly committed to the issue of education.

First and foremost, we care about the material status of employees - they must be satisfied so that they can transfer knowledge in the best way and be adequately rewarded for it - said Pivić.

He added that in the past two years, since the current Government was appointed, the salaries of educators have been increased twice, and announced a new, significant increase in the coming year.



The President of the Independent Unions of BiH and the Cantonal Board of the Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of ZDK, Selvedin Šatorović, said that he is honored and pleased to be able to congratulate "our day" - the day when recognition is given for all that educators do throughout all 365 days of the year.

- The number of guests present at this event shows that educators are truly valued in ZDK. Only a satisfied teacher - without financial, existential, and administrative problems - can fully dedicate themselves to the educational process.

In ZDK, we have focused on students and teachers, and ensured that educators spend less time on administration and more time on quality teaching - said Šatorović.



The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of ZDK, Mirza Mušija, emphasized that the relevant ministry is continuously working on improving the quality of education, which is reflected through capital investments in primary and secondary schools, improving student standards, enhancing the material and financial position of employees in education, as well as promoting teachers through support for their work, both in teaching and extracurricular activities.

- Being a teacher is not just a profession. It is a life calling and a path you must commit to not just doing, but living. Therefore, being a teacher is a great responsibility, and a special honor and pride - emphasized Minister Mušija.
