Due to high temperatures: Mass death of thousands of chicks on farms across BiH

The heatwave that has hit Bosnia and Herzegovina in recent days has caused major difficulties for poultry farmers.

One of the directors of the company Peturnina Ptuj in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Velibor Popović, confirmed for the news agency Patria that more than 50 percent of this company's cooperators are facing problems on chicken farms due to high temperatures, which lead to increased chick mortality.

- We cannot say exactly how many chicks have died in the past few days, but it is evident that farmers are recording losses measured in thousands of chicks – Popović said.

He added that poultry farmers are the first to be affected by high temperatures compared to all other livestock breeders, which is why modern cooling systems need to be introduced into farms, NAP writes.
