Due to suspicion of cooperating with the Tito and Dino cartel, EUROPOL banned Munjic from attending the Convention of Police Chiefs in The Hague

(Patria) - EUROPOL officials did not allow the director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) Vahidin Munjic to attend the Convention of Police Chiefs held at the end of September at the headquarters of the European Police in The Hague, Istraga.ba has learned.

Munjic, as this portal has learned, was supposed to be part of a three-member BiH delegation as the director of FUP, which also included the director of SIPA Darko Ćulum and the director of the RS Police Siniša Kostrešević.

But when it became clear that Vahidin Munjic would represent FUP, EUROPOL informed the BiH authorities that the FUP director could not enter the European Police building because he had not passed their security checks.

The reason, Istraga has learned, is the "Black Tie" operation within which the BiH Prosecutor's Office arrested Vahidin Munjic for protecting federal police officers who were tracking drug lord Edin Gačanin Tito in 2016. The "Black Tie" operation was carried out in cooperation with EUROPOL.

It was officially announced at the end of September this year that Kostrešević and Ćulum attended the EUROPOL Convention.

"Illegal migrations, drug trafficking, online fraud, hybrid and cyber threats were the topics of this year's Convention of Police Chiefs of EUROPOL member states, which was held in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands, from September 23 to 29, 2024, and was attended by the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) Darko Ćulum.

The aim of the Convention of European Police Chiefs, organized by EUROPOL and the Council of the European Union, is, among other things, to strengthen the cooperation between the police forces of the Western Balkans and the EU police.

Director Ćulum expressed his readiness for cooperation with all partners in order to combat organized crime, thanking EUROPOL in particular for the support and operational information that played a significant role in SIPA's investigations and the resolution of the most serious criminal offenses," SIPA announced on September 26 this year.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS issued a similar statement, even attaching photos showing Kostrešević and Ćulum with EUROPOL officials. The FUP director is not in those photos.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office is investigating Vahidin Munjic, as well as the head of the FUP Special Unit Mustafa Selmanovic, on suspicion of cooperating with people close to the Tito and Dino drug cartel.

Munjic was arrested in April this year, but the BiH Court did not order his detention. After that, the FBiH Government, despite numerous criticisms from the US Embassy, extended Munjic's acting mandate as FUP director.

We remind you that in February this year, Munjic decided that three active FUP members who were escorts of the cartel leader Edin Gačanin Tito no longer needed access to classified information to perform their duties.

Namely, he made a decision that revoked the confidentiality level for a total of 16 positions in FUP.

At three out of the sixteen positions are police officers Emir Druškić, Adin Ćatić, and Senad Kadić, who, according to an FUP report from January 2020, were part of a group of special forces who guarded the leader of the powerful Tito and Dino drug cartel in September 2016.

Police officers Druškić, Ćatić, and Kadić definitively lost access to classified information at the beginning of this year, meaning they did not pass security checks.

In order not to lose their jobs, Munjic, a cadre of the Čampara family, made a decision that allowed these police officers to continue performing their duties, regardless of the fact that they did not pass security checks and do not have access to classified information.

This is precisely one of the actions for which Munjic was arrested. Upon his arrest, by order of the BiH Court, three phones used by Munjic were confiscated.

Forensic experts, as Istraga has learned, managed to unlock all three phones. According to Istraga's information, the phone contains numerous pieces of evidence on how former minister Aljoša Čampara and his brother, state prosecutor Dubravko Čampara, indirectly or directly managed all of Munjic's actions in the case of the Tito and Dino drug cartel.
