Difficult traffic due to snow in Bosnia, rainy in Herzegovina

(Patria) - Due to new snowfall, traffic is difficult on roads in Bosnia, while it is mostly rainy in Herzegovina. We pay special attention to sections over mountain passes, where there is sometimes over 5 cm of snow on the road.

Traffic for trucks is prohibited on the mountain passes of Romanija (Sarajevo-Rogatica) and Han Pogled (Vlasenica-Han Pijesak). During the night, this prohibition was also in effect for this category of vehicles on the mountain passes of Lanište and Oštrelj (Ključ-Bosanski Petrovac-Drvar), but passage is possible since 6 AM this morning, with the use of chains.

Fog reduces visibility in the area of Čapljina, and strong winds are creating snow drifts on the Kupres-Šuica road.

We appeal to drivers to be maximally cautious, to adjust their driving to the current road conditions, and to обязательно possess winter equipment.

Due to a gas tanker rollover on the main road Bugojno-Kupres (at the Koprivnica pass), traffic is slow, using one lane.

Movement of all vehicles across the bridge on the main road Dobro Polje-Miljevina is prohibited. Vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons can use the roads via Kalinovik (there is 19 km of macadam road) and Grebak, while trucks must go via Rogatica and Goražde.

Due to construction work on a noise barrier on the A-1 highway section Sarajevo sjever-Podlugovi, traffic is only using the overtaking lane.

On the main road Jablanica-Blidinje, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

There are no long delays at border crossings.

Due to the registration of passengers under the new Entry/Exit System for entering and leaving European Union countries, longer delays at border crossings are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. From December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all categories of vehicles. Traffic for all trucks is prohibited at the Šepak border crossing.
