Due to forecast unstable weather situation, 'Preparedness' episode lifted

(Patria) - The expert body for coordination and monitoring of air quality in Sarajevo Canton lifted today the „Preparedness“ episode in all its zones, due to the forecast unstable weather situation in the coming days and a significant improvement in air quality during today's day. 

Measurements of concentrations of pollutants in the air in the area of our canton at all automatic stations - Otoka, Ilidža, Hadžići, Vijećnica and Ilijaš recorded exceedances of the limit value for the Preparedness episode for PM10 of 50µg/m3 for the previous day.  

However, during the night from January 20 to 21, there was an increase in wind and precipitation, which caused a significant drop in concentrations of pollutants.  

The current situation regarding air quality is satisfactory from the aspect of applying the Plan of emergency measures for cases of excessive air pollution.  

According to the synoptic forecast of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, today and the next two days, occasional precipitation with wind is expected, the intensity of which will decrease, with the possibility of a weak temperature inversion during tomorrow's day, which should not significantly contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the air.
